an asian inspired cherry folding screen

I shipped this custom custom folding screen last week to clients in florida who I made a bed for a few years back.  This screen was based on one I blogged about here, with some tweaks to better suit their desires.
detail of carved hard maple panel

hand planing and shellac finish really pops the beauty of the woods irregularity

asymmetry in the grills adds visual interest (and is fun for me)

  1. nice going chris ... i like your screen ... you've got a little andy goldsworthy thing going there. you might want to edit and delete some of the blank lines at the end of your post to collapse the blank space at the end of the post.

    1. good catch on goldsworthy, i'm definitely inspired by his work. it wasn't conscious, but when i view with that lens i instantly recall some of his asian feeling work.
...i'll eventually get the mechanics of blogging down :)
